Research Interests:

I am an environmental physiologist investigating the physiological and behavioural responses of fishes to changing environmental conditions. Currently, I am studying the movement, behaviour, and physiology of green and white sturgeon in response to varied threats.  Specifically, we are examining responses to threats such as water diversions, pesticides, and potentially improving passage design at migratory barriers for sturgeon. I am particularly interested in the capacity of physiological systems (e.g. respiratory, cardiovascular) to compensate and maintain performance under changing environmental conditions. For this, I combine lab-based experimental studies with fieldwork, and take an integrative approach that allows for collaboration and furthers conservation goals.
