Research Interests:
As a research intern and a junior specialist in the Fangue Lab, I had the opportunity to work with sturgeon, salmon, and smelt. Specifically, I performed metabolite extractions and assays to assess the effects of environmental stressors on fish physiology/metabolism.
Now I am currently working on various delta smelt (Hypomesus transpacificus) field projects. These involve assessing larval survival and hatching rate in rivers, rearing adults in man-made ponds and determining the feasibility of extracting and transporting them, and comparing behavior, hypoxia tolerance, and temperature susceptibility between hatchery-raised delta smelt and delta smelt already exposed to semi-natural conditions.
